A FUND FOR CORRECTIONAL EMPLOYEES IN WAYNE COUNTY

The Correctional Employees’ Assistance Fund (CEAF) is guided by a committee that currently includes four retired correctional employees—two from USP Canaan and two from SCI Waymart—along with two active employees from SCI Waymart and one active employee from Wayne County Correctional Facility. To ensure fair and informed decision-making, CEAF is actively seeking additional committee members who are currently working “behind the walls” to participate.

CEAF operates as a small, local assistance fund modeled after the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation, though it is not affiliated with that organization. CEAF serves correctional employees working at USP Canaan, SCI Waymart, and the Wayne County Correctional Facility.

When a correctional employee from one of these facilities experiences a crisis, assistance may be requested by sending a private message through this page or by calling 570-229-1144.
All applications are reviewed by a Decision Committee composed of representatives from each institution. Assistance requests—including the type and amount of aid—are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

All funds raised for CEAF are held by the Wayne County Community Foundation (WCCF). Donations can be made directly through the Foundation’s website or by mail (additional details provided below). While CEAF committee members determine eligibility and approve assistance, WCCF issues all payments from CEAF’s account. Direct cash assistance is not provided; however, when approved, the Fund may pay qualifying expenses directly on behalf of the employee.
Please note that WCCF administers multiple charitable funds. If another fund is better suited to meet an applicant’s needs, the applicant may be referred accordingly.

Our mission is simple: to provide meaningful support to correctional employees in times of need. We encourage you to support CEAF by attending fundraising events, purchasing raffle tickets, or making a donation. Without community support, we cannot continue this important work.
